Chuy’s Hula Hut or just The Hula Hut, as it is referred to by most customers in the area, is a quaint two-bar establishment located off of the banks of Lake Travis in beautiful Austin, Texas at 3825 Lake Austin Boulevard. The Hula Hut was established by Andy Norton, Mike Young, and John Zapp in 1993, and this little “Tropical Texas Paradise” has been a hit ever since its inception. Sitting on an outdoor dining room built over the waters of Lake Austin, The Hula Hut can’t be mistaken for anything else but beautifully picturesque. The restaurant is designed for your tropical island relaxation needs like playing Farmerama, and come complete with bamboo walls, tiki torches, grass thatched bars, and many colored lights. It is complete with lush plants and Palm trees. You can hear surf rock music or traditional Hawaiian music as you dine at the Hula Hut, and while you wait for dinner you can visit one of their two bars. They call their menu “Mexonesian”, which is a mixture of Polynesian with a Mexican twist in cuisine. Some menu highlights include Hawaiian Fajitas, Chili Rubbed Salmon Tacos, Mango Poblano Chile Quesadillas, Mexonesian Shrimp Flautas. Their salads include Seasar Salad, Diamond Head Noodle Salad, Chicken Chili Rellenos, and Salad Combos. The menu also includes tacos, enchiladas, vegetarian items, big island burgers and sandwiches, snacks, and drinks. With two bars, The Hula Hut’s selections are extensive. Selections include California wines like Solaris Chardonnay and Fish Eye Pinot Grigio. They also have red Australia wines called, Bucheley’s Shiraz and Smoking Lone Syrah. Negra Modelo, Pacifico, Lone Star, Fat Tire Amber Ale, Dos XX Special Lager, and Red Stripe are on the Hula Hut’s beer list. There is a 15% gratuity added to parties of six or more people.
