The Stampen pub is cozy, friendly, and is filled with jazz music on a daily basis. This world famous Rhythm and Blues jazz club is located in the old town district of Stockholm, Sweden called “Gamla Stan”. Stampen is open Monday through Thursday from 8pm to 1am, Wednesday from 5pm to 8pm (New Orleans Happy Hour), and on Friday and Saturday from 8pm to 2am. On Saturday from 3pm to 6pm they have their Blues Jam night, and some Sunday’s they are open from 1pm to 5pm. Owned by Josef Haddad, Stamps was first known as a French Reform Church in 1880. Then it became a pawn shop, which gave stamps out to clients with regular payments, thus this is where its name is derived from. Although Stampen is primarily a jazz and rhythm and blues music establishment, you can also hear styles, like Trad, swing, blues, rock n’ roll, and rockabilly. Stampen host a wide variety of parties and events, and they are very flexible to whatever party styles you need. Stampen can host any where from 20 to 100 people at your private party.
They will assist you in making arrangements for your private party, so that your theme will be collaborative. Many jazz legends have showed their faces and played their instruments at Stampens. Some of those the famous people coming through Stampen were Dizzie Gillespie, Charlie Norman, Eartha Kitt, Monica Zetterlund, Woody Allen, Ben Webster, Marty Feldman, Teddy Wilson, Dextor Gordon, Lucky Thompson, and Toots Thieleman. According to the Stampen website, the easiest way for first-time visitors to get to the pub is by cab. However, once you’re there you are in short walking distance from popular Stockholm locations, like Queen street, Finland, Locks, and the Royal Palace.
